Who we are

SOGON Eastern is one of the regional sectors of the Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON)—an umbrella organization dedicated to improving women’s health in Nigeria. Our sector encompasses the states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Rivers, and is made up of passionate, skilled, and experienced professionals in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.

We exist to champion safe motherhood, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and advance the overall wellbeing of women in our region through professional excellence, ethical practice, research, and collaboration.

The vision of the Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON) is an organization where all members are professionally empowered and committed to the pursuit of the rights of women to achieve the highest possible standards of physical, mental, reproductive and sexual health and wellbeing throughout their lives.

Our Mision

SOGON is dedicated to the improvement of women’s health and rights and the reduction of maternal and newborn mortality, as well as advancing the science and practice of gynaecology and obstetrics in Nigeria. The society shall pursue its mission through advocacy, programmatic activities and capacity strengthening of its members and partners
